Jayco - 2016 Jay Flight 28Bhs Review from Miami, Florida

We have a 2016 28BHS Jayflight. The brake and turn signal lights stopped working. They almost instantly blow fuses on our 2015 Tahoe. Any ideas?

Are you towing with your truck light switch in the auto mode? Try switching your truck light switch to manual when towing.

Auto mode can cause a lot of on/off cycles especially when you drive in and out of shaded areas, like under overpasses, putting extra strain on the electrical system especially with the addition of the trailer drawing power.

I agree 100%. I have a Jayco 35S motorhome and every time we take it out something goes wrong.

It’s only 2 years and keeps having problems. I would never recommend a Jayco product.

Jayco still sticking head in sand

After six months Jayco is still sticking there head in the sand wishing the issues with their Seneca would go away. We have now been forced to file a lawsuit against Jayco to resolve the issues with their poorly constructed Motor home. Will keep all advised what they do next to avoid solving their issue. I would strongly advise staying away from Jayco. They do not back their product. Craig Nucomer and Joyce Skinner will both lie to you. They are not honest people.

My lawyer was trying to see if enough people had similar problems to mine that he could start a class action lawsuit but I really don't want to go down that road if I don't have to. I bought my trailer to enjoy it and that hasn't been the case but I am hopeful that jayco makes things right

2016 Jayco Pinnacle Not whats wrong it's what works

Update by user Apr 08, 2016

3-30-16 I talked to the head RV repair man at the place I bought the RV and told him about putting in a cooling fan in the side of the water connection valves box so it blows over the top of the furnace, he said that should work fine so I ordered the fan and a thermo switch and installed a cold air circulation fan over the furnace. I installed an intake in the basement door so the fan would draw fresh air in and over the furnace.

Everything looks like factory install. At this time so far the furnace has worked fine no problems. I faxed a bill to Jayco Company that I made up for the parts to repair their design and so far no response from them, will call today and find out what happens next.

Mostly nothing will happen but them telling me glad it works. I just fine it kind of bad when you spend about $88,000 dollars and have to repair everything I have had to fix on this trailer.

Update by user Mar 26, 2016

Needed to use furnace this morning to talk off the chill, worked once, now quit again won't startup at all. Went outside and checked the furnace case inside the basement compartment and it seems to be getting very hot.

I know the outside case gets hot but this is so hot you could fry a steak on it well done, thank god the limit switch appeared to work and shut down the system. Back to the dealer for the (8th) time.

Update by user Mar 24, 2016

Well it appears that I finely got a furnace that works for now, after the last repair that didn't work I took the furnace out myself and took it over to the RV repair center where I bought the rv and after about a week of them having the furnace they got it fixed. Funny thing was I asked the last repair man why he didn't replace the limit switch along with the sail switch when he had it apart, he said it wasn't that, guess what the dealer replaced, the (limit switch).

So the furnace is fixed for now being it is getting hot now in South Texas I really don't need it.

Yesterday I also installed the new front door lock they sent me works great, this is the (4th) one of those I have put in. All in all everything is in pretty good condition, only fixed one water leak this month so far everything else is ok.

Update by user Feb 24, 2016

15 days after the dealer got the heater part in to fix the main furnace the repair man called me and said would be over to fix it, he was there and did the repair, it worked about four times through the night and now is shut down again and won't do anything plus now I went and checked the basement area where the furnace and water connections are for a smell of propane, now I have another water leak. So I'm starting over again this time with Jayco Company and try to get a new furnace and thermostat complete. This has been a total of 7 times they have tried to repair the furnace.

Update by user Feb 20, 2016

As of the last review I wrote, someone wished me luck but said there wasn't to many states that had lemon laws on trailers, one good thing is Texas has a pretty good lemon law on about everything and I have talked to an attorney some about my problems and he advised me I had a pretty good case if I wanted to go with it.

Sense last post my furnace still doesn't work it has been 12 days from when the Jayco dealer received the $10.00 part and still no one sent over to put it in. I have been sense November of last year trying to get my furnace fixed.

Eight days ago my electric side of my water heater went out I had the switch to fix it myself so I did. Now if I say I fixed it that probably screws the warranty on that but it was a simple fix and I kind of wanted hot water this year. I know how to fix the furnace also but having so many problems with the controller board again I am not a so called certified tech so when it goes out again they would say I did it wrong. I have had an RV of some kind for the last 45 years and fixed about everything that can go wrong but I don't know what I am doing because I don't have that paper that says I do.

I know I am sure getting tired of fixing things on this 2016 Jayco Pinnacle that cost me $85,000 that I had to take out a loan for. Will add updates if something happens.

This trailer has been pulled 34 miles from when it was bought and setup to live in like I have been doing for the past 16 years, new Jayco from when I set it up leaked water from everywhere under the sink, bathroom, bathroom drain, sink drain, about half of the pex hoses behind the water connections panel, water pump that has never been used, kitchen sink drain and one of the water lines. The real nice looking kitchen faucet one day turned it on and the back ring fell off and I couldn't turn it off. Some of the drawers don't latch and pop open by looking at them. The convection oven works for now but sometimes the fan doesn't come on when baking and the top gets very hot unless I turn on the fan manual, and other times it works fine, it also smells like a circuit board burning at times. Now for the furnace it has been repaired 5 times now 3 of them they replaced the circuit board now quit again today. Replaced the very nice battery operated front door lock 4 times now this one is starting to act up again, learned the hard way to hide a key outside or take one with you all the time if you lock the doors. That is most of the things that are wrong but not all some little recalls also. The old saying built on a Friday afternoon or Monday morning, not this one it was built on a Saturday night after the bars closed. I'am trying to work with the dealer I got it from and Jayco Company but not great results yet. I may try and get me a lemon law attorney but even if I get another trailer what would I get on the next one the same problems or worst.

You do realize that the furnace, water heater and door lock were not made by Jayco, right?

Unfortunately in most states Lemon Law does not apply to non-motorized RVs. Best of luck, hope you have some recourse.

2015 Jayco 324bhts travel trailer

We have had zero major issues with the camper. Ordered it brand new. Had a minor flaw on the gel coat at delivery. The dealer took care of it before we brought it home. Camped all summer with it. Absolutely love it. Found a small spider web crack on the nose cap....

2014 Jayco Jayflight 22fb bought at Fretz Enterprise in Souderton, Pa.

Bought a new Jayflight 22fb 2 years ago. Had a few minor issues like a drawer not closing, broken window shade, pipe came loose under the sink, all repaired promptly under warranty by dealer. Front Jack stopped working while doing State inspection, dealer replaced it without even telling me. Called dealer when TV didn't work. They walked me through pushing the antennae booster and it worked great. Called when the heater didn't work, they explained blowing the spiders out of the line. Admit the construction quality is just above adequate, there is a small opening to the outside in bath closet, mattress is thin but the appliances are good and everything works well. Overall mine is a fine camper and a fantastic dealer with a great repair shop to work with.

As an independent RV service center I work on many different RV brands. When it comes to quality and workmanship, most are comparable. However when it comes to warranty or service issues there is a huge difference. First is the selling dealer, they are the first link in customer service. If they don't stand up for you most likely the mfg won't either. In working with manufacturers Jayco is the one company I trust. And yes contrary to some comments they will at times cover service calls. I have seen Jayco go out of their way to take care of their customers. Also remember, whiny customers will get very little sympathy. Be calm, and state what is wrong with the unit without being rude. It works both ways. Have a good day

Whether you spend $20,000 or $120,000 on a RV, the quality of the build should be the same! Yes you have various entry levels of Rv's you can purchase, but buying a brand new unit and having the front cap damaged and patched with decal tape?

Then having your sales manager say to you, it was probably the truck driver who damaged it and, the list of excuses. Anyway, I contacted Jayco, and told them it was the dealership who sold me a damaged unit, they recommended that it be locally repaired? This is a brand new unit, so why should I settle for a repair job? So finally after 2 months of no response from the owner of the RV company, I posted a nice review, which got all the local attention!

A new replacement front fibreglass cap has been ordered! A $5000-$6000 repair. But how to you repair a squeaky floor, when the flooring was not installed properly right from factory! I found the flooring had 1/4" to 5/8" gaps between the tongue and groove 5/8" plywood?

It literally looks like the plywood was thrown down and screwed down. Except for the are in front of the bed and dresser which they totally missed? As to my previous posting, regarding this issue, I finally meet with the service manager, and the "NEW" manager, and they both agreed- that this was the first unit that they have seen, such sloppy workmanship! Finally they took the time to pay attention!

So in reference to the "whiny customers?" We have that right to complain, and it may seem to you as "whining", I don't see it as such. I am glad this site allows for customers to post comments. Jayco did replace a mattress that failed within 2 months!! Built how do you fix a floor that has huge gaps, between the plywood?

No excuse for "POOR WORKMANSHIP !" The RV company said they will repair it from underneath ?? REALLY?? I can't wait to see that disaster! Anyway, when I get it back, I will probably repair it myself- As I am a Carpenter for 31 years!

And plan to dump it, first part of March! My Jayco- Eagle build is pure junk. Not to mention all the other 19 issues from water leaks, panelling coming apart, damaged door frame installed from factory, damaged awning from factory, LED lights installed with waves. A $70,000 unit and only had it 5 months and it's falling apart!

I ordered a Grande Design Solitude!

Very well built unit! Jayco's are Junk!

He works for Jayco! I am currently at 17 issues with my 2017 Jayco 5th wheel 321 RSTS and list is growing.

I talked to the service manager and my sales man . After about the 3rd or 4th major issue, both were shocked, when I pointed out, someone damaged 3.5 ft of the front nose cap and patched it with decal tape and repainted it! Sales manager blew me off and said they would fix it? Sorry!

You can replace the full cap! No patch or quick repair happening! Panelling on pantry and closet are delaminating less than 3.5 months use and travelled on 65 kms! Major plywood floor separations, frames are to week for a 37 ft.

unit This is the "Quality from Jayco!" Stay away from Jayco! Stay away from anything Thor Industries builds, as I am hearing from numerous salesmen out there, that Thor Industries is buying out or trying to buy out everyone? I looked a numerous replacements and I was shocked by the quality of construction out there. Note: when purchasing any Rv, focus on quality of the build as well!

Take a friend with "ALOT" OF EXPERIENCE". You may save yourself a lot of headaches and money!

Jayco - 2014 Jay Flight 34Fkds Review from Fort Myers, Florida

Bought a brand new 2014 jayflight in january of 2015. When it gets cold outside then i can hear water dripping under the floor. There was also no water pressure at the kitchen sink sometimes. Took it into a dealer, they replaced the faucet. Got it back yesterday and set it up. Now the furnace doesnt work and the refrigerator quit working today. I called jayco customer service and so far they have been willing to work with me. I guess time will tell if things will get better.

We bought a 2013 jayco 28 bhs and before we got 50 miles away from the dealer the front end broke the diamond plate came off and insulation was blowing all over. When l went to hang the tv in living and bedroom there was no backing in the walls. Since then l have found all kinds of striped screws screws to long things coming loose and falling a part. I will never own another jayco.
