Warranty refusal two times on mold issues

Original review posted by user Jan 12, 2021

We bought a new 2018 Jayco Jay Flight 28 RLS picked up 11/15/2017. In Ca.

We experienced black mold issues in aug. 2018 in the Ca. Climate upon looking for items in storage areas. We found items under bed storage, table seating, couch, and behind recliners and the bottom of the walls underneath these areas and along inside lower walls.

We had to throw out many $ worth of clothing and items. We cleaned and disinfected all of the areas we could see. In March of 2019 we moved to the Or. coast.

In mid summer 2019 we again had to throw out belongings. We cannot store anything in these compartments. We had to buy an used trailer in order to try to completely eradicate the black mold once again. Now we were experiencing headaches and shortness of breath.

After contacting the head rep. Tony at Jayco we brought it to the closest dealer for inspection and picture for Tony. Upon his inspection of the pics and report provided the dealer he denied warranty saying it was our fault and that we did not maintain roof seals. The roof has a ten year warranty.

Again I contacted Tony to ask him to revisit his determination.

After a week Of not hearing a reply I called him back and he again refused warranty not to mention blinds constantly breaking, miss aligned doors, furnace problem ( fixed under warranty only furnace), loose connections on a/c unit I found, poorly built bed support ( support frame one side had big knot in the piece of wood and cracked in half at that knot), wrong toilet seat on brand new toilet, external rope light burnt out, water leaks under kitchen sink, roof leak in front wall,( paid rv. Repairman to reseal entire roof), window put in new unit with cracked frame that had four rivets and some sealer put on it, tv not wired to the stereo sound system which clock doesnt keep time, microwave clock constantly speeds up, front electric jack not working ( have to use with manual handle provided). Tow hitch is extremely difficult and was supposed to be ordered and replaced ( never heard from the dealer again).

We liked our first Jayco trailer with little issues only and thats why we purchased again from Jayco. We a very disappointed in this unit for almost 36,000 $ we have had it.

I dont have the time for it to sit in the repair dealership for everything that goes wrong. My biggest issue was the mold because it causes us health discomfort. We have turned in a complaint with the BBB and if this isnt a lemon I dont know what it takes to consider an rv.

One. We have since helped the molding issues with the purchase of a very large dehumidifier in the main area and two smaller ones in the bedroom but it doesnt make up for all of the problems we have had.

User's recommendation: Read consumer reports and carefully inspect your purchase before you purchase.

Monetary Loss: $700.

Preferred solution: Company credit non expiration towards purchase of a different unit from Jayco .
